Hello, young artists! Today, we’re setting sail on an artistic adventure as we learn how to draw a boat. Whether you’ve seen boats gliding on the water or dreamt of sailing the seas yourself, we’re going to capture the essence of these vessels on paper.
Follow my simple steps, grab your drawing tools, and let’s create our own nautical masterpiece together! 🚤
how to draw a boat
Step 1:
Start by drawing a long, narrow, horizontal shape for the base of the boat with a slightly curved bottom to represent the hull sitting in water.
Step 2:
Sketch a rectangle sitting on top of the base to represent the top portion of the boat.
Step 3:
Add windows to the rectangle for detail.
Step 4:
Erect a long, vertical line from the center of the boat’s top to represent the mast.
Step 5:
Add rectangle lines as shown in the picture.
Step 6:
Draw a large triangle with one side along the mast and the base along the boom for the main sail.
Step 7:
Add the front sail, or jib, which is a smaller triangle whose top is attached to the mast above the boom.
Step 8:
At the top of the mast, draw a small flag.
Step 9:
Add details to the jib as shown in the picture.
Step 10:
Finally, color your boat. The hull can be one color, the cabin another, and the sails are typically white or off-white. Add blue for the water and any additional colors for the flag and other details.
