Today, let’s draw a cabin. Why a cabin? It’s a great way to practice drawing rustic buildings and their natural settings.
Cabins, often found in beautiful locations, offer a variety of textures to capture, from rough wood logs to smooth window glass, and reflect a peaceful, simple life.
Grab your drawing tools as we aim to depict this charming retreat. We’ll focus on key features like the sloping roof, sturdy porch, and welcoming door, all set against the backdrop of nature.
Ready to sketch the quaint charm of a cabin? Let’s begin!
How to Draw a Cabin
Step: 1
Start by drawing a simple rectangle. This will serve as the base of the cabin.
Step: 2
Above the rectangle, draw a long parallelogram extending from the top edge to form the roof of the cabin.
Step: 3
Draw a horizontal oval shape under the base of the cabin to represent the first log of the cabin walls.
Step: 4
Draw several horizontal ovals on top of each other to create the look of log walls. Ensure the ends of the ovals overlap slightly to mimic the appearance of logs.
Step: 5
Keep stacking the horizontal ovals on top of each other until they are as tall as the base rectangle. They should look like the walls of the cabin from the side.
Step: 6
Extend the roof by drawing extra lines to create an overhang. Make sure these lines run parallel to the existing roof lines.
Step: 7
Draw vertical lines on the roof to show the wooden planks or shingles. This adds texture and makes your drawing look more realistic.
Step: 8
Draw a rectangle on the right side of the roof for the chimney. Inside the chimney, draw horizontal lines to make it look like it’s made of bricks.
Step: 9
Draw a vertical rectangle on the front of the cabin to make the door. Inside it, draw a smaller rectangle for a window on the door.
Step: 10
Draw two squares on the right side of the cabin for windows. Inside each square, draw cross lines to create window panes. Then, color your cabin. Use brown for the logs and a darker brown for the roof. Color the chimney and windows too.
