Plateau Facts

Did you know that plateaus are elevated flatlands that rise sharply above the surrounding area? They can be formed by various geological processes, such as volcanic activity, erosion, or the uplift of tectonic plates. Plateaus can be found on every continent, with some of the most famous ones including the Colorado Plateau in the United States and the Tibetan Plateau in Asia, often called the “Roof of the World.” These landforms provide unique habitats for wildlife and are often rich in natural resources.
