Vulture Facts

Did you know that vultures are nature’s cleanup crew, playing a crucial role in ecosystems by consuming dead animals? There are 23 species of vultures found around the world, each with unique adaptations for scavenging. Vultures have excellent eyesight and a strong sense of smell to locate carrion from great distances. Their powerful stomach acids allow them to safely digest rotting meat, which helps prevent the spread of disease. Despite their vital role, many vulture species are endangered due to habitat loss and poisoning.
