This holiday season, I wanted my kids to spend less time feeling bored and more time imagining, making, and learning.
So, we started crafting with everyday waste materials and soon filled the house with Christmas décor.
Through every small creation, my little ones learned new skills and felt the true joy of the season.

Decorate Christmas Tree
As a mother, watching my child decorate the Christmas tree filled me with joy. Each tiny ornament they placed wasn’t just decoration; it was a little lesson in patience, focus, and creativity.
Turning a simple tree into something magical helped them feel proud of their work while learning the value of adding beauty with their own hands.
What could have been an ordinary holiday afternoon turned into a warm memory of laughter, bonding, and festive spirit.

Handprint Reindeer
“Today I wanted my kids to try something different, so I suggested making areindeere, but with a twist: they had to use their handprints! At first, they thought and observed carefully.
My son drew the reindeer’s face, while my daughter helped by cutting out the handprints for antlers. Together, they created this adorable reindeer.
Watching their teamwork, creativity, and excitement truly surprised and delighted me.
Recycled Materials’ Christmas Ornament
“I had some waste materials lying around, so I gave them to my kids and asked, ‘What can you create from this?’ Their eyes lit up with excitement, and they immediately started brainstorming.
After a lot of discussion, they decided to make Christmas ornaments! It wasn’t easy; there were challenges along the way, but in the end, they proudly created these adorable pieces.
Seeing their imagination grow and their creativity shine truly made me feel proud and surprised at what they could achieve.
Paper Chain Garland

3D Paper Snowflakes
When my son curiously asked, “Mumma, can we make a snowflake out of paper?” I was truly surprised and so proud of his imagination.
To encourage him, I said, “Yes, let’s make it together.” We sat down side by side, and though it was a little tricky at first, we laughed and enjoyed every moment.
Finally, we completed our 3D snowflake, and the joy on his face was priceless. The sparkle in his eyes showed how proud he felt seeing his idea come alive on paper.

Playdough Christmas Ornament
One afternoon my daughter kept asking me for clay. I told her, “I’ll give it to you, but only if you create something creative.”
She instantly agreed, and I handed her the clay. To my surprise, she used her imagination to make a Christmas tree and a snowman, perfectly fitting the holiday theme.
Paper Plate Reindeer
One day my son brought me a paper plate and said, “Mumma, I want to make a craft using this plate. Can you give me an idea?” After thinking for a while, he himself came up with the idea of making a reindeer.
He started painting the plate, and though he messed it up the first time, he didn’t give up. He repainted it, cut out shapes from paper, and carefully created his reindeer.
Wrapping Christmas Gifts
To encourage my kids to share the joy of giving at Christmas, I asked them to wrap the gifts by themselves. They were so excited to try something new and immediately sat down to wrap and decorate the presents in their own creative way.
When they finally gave those beautifully wrapped gifts to others, they proudly said, “We did it ourselves!”
Watching their happiness and seeing everyone appreciate their effort made the moment even more special.
Popsicle Stick Reindeer Ornament
Whenever my son ate candy, he never threw away the sticks; he always collected them. One day, he sat with a stick in his hand, thinking deeply. When I asked what he was planning, he said, “I want to make something creative. Can you give me an idea?”
I suggested he could turn it into a Christmas ornament. Instantly, his imagination sparked, and he decided to make a reindeer ornament. Seeing how he used waste material to create something so festive and useful made me truly happy.
Later, when he proudly hung his handmade reindeer on the Christmas tree, his joy and pride were shining bright, and I couldn’t stop smiling.
