How to Draw a Blue Jay
Step 1:
Start by drawing a long, slightly curved line that outlines the bird’s back and tail. Then, draw a rounded shape overlapping the top of this line to represent the bird’s head, chest, and beak.
Step 2:
Place two small circles on the face for the eyes, and add lines around the beak to give more structure to the face. Draw a jagged line to create the crest.
Step 3:
Add detail lines to the face.
Step 4:
Add lines within the wing to represent feather patterns. These lines should follow the curvature of the wing.
Step 5:
Add details to the feathers as shown in the picture.
Step 6:
Extend the line for the tail and add vertical lines within it to create tail feathers. These lines should be straight and evenly spaced.
Step 7:
Add horizontal lines to detail the blue jay.
Step 8:
Add horizontal stripes across the tail feathers for a more realistic look. Additionally, draw a small leg.
Step 9:
Now, sketch the branch with leaves as shown in the picture.
Step 10:
Color your blue jay in shades of blue and white, with the characteristic blue, white, and black coloration on the wings and tail. Remember to color the branch and leaves as well to complete the drawing.
